Baby, It’s Cold Outside – the Christmas classic from the 1940s came under fire in 2018 in the wake of the Me Too movement. In the song, a man tries to persuade a woman to stay with him – using the weather as an excuse. Canadian artist and composer John Oswald already took aim at the song in 1987. He tackled the song’s supposedly idealised world – including its gender stereotypes – by pitching the voices higher. This transforms the schmaltzy song into an absurd cartoon for the ears.
